I don't know why they keep whining about bringing more H1s when they cannot provide for the ones already here? Even a layman would agree that more H1s without corresponding legislations to fix broken GC system would add fuel to the fire.
Or is it what someone in this forum suggested - they want to bring cheaper younger people to replace the old ones after 6 years?

Frist's enforcement only bill will be very popular in the house, but is unlikely to pass the senate. There seems to be quite a few republican senators (Specter, Mccain, Graham, Brownback to name a few) who might vote against any bill which is not "comprehensive". They along with the dems easily have more than 50 votes to block. Now, even if Frist's passes senate, it has to be reconciled with the house version - there are plenty of vocal anti EB folks there and hardly anyone pro. So if push comes to shove, Frist would probably agree to drop the EB provisions and pass rest of the bill , so that he can take credit and hit the '08 presidential campaign trail.
Specter's will easily pass the senate, will be a miracle if it passes the house - senate conference commitee in its present form. The only hope is all the attention will be on the amnesty provisions and negotiations surrounding that, and the EB part of it will fly under the radar.

Hi All,
I need urgent help and suggestions for my situations..
I have been working with company A since March'2006. They applied my GC processing with substitute labor of Nov'2004 and got I-140 approved.
In July'2007 applied I-485 which is pending for myself and my wife as well.
EAD card has arrived recently with 2 years of validity till Oct'2010 both for myself and my wife. AP is also approved recently.
With all this I am still on H1-B until 11/15/2008. Since it is going to expire, I have asked my employer to file for my extension.. They came up with very vague options and questions which I have posted down in bold with 1 and 2.
1) We have filed your PERM application for the new position which qualifies for EB2. Please note that since you have an approved I-140, have filed your I-485 and have an EAD card, we will no longer need to maintain your H-1B status. Instead, we will withdraw your current H1 and save the remaining H-1B time left on this H1 for use in the future (if the need arises).
OR
2) If you wish to maintain your H-1B status, then (since your position has changed and we have filed a new PERM application on your behalf), we will need to amend your H-1B visa. Please complete the attached questionnaire at your earliest convenience and revert to me with a copy of your latest I-94 card. Please note that this is not an extension and so there is no need to file the H4 extension for your wife/family.
Please advise which option you want to go with. I strongly recommend option #1, but it is entirely your choice if you want to go with option # 2 and maintain your H-1B status. Please let me know how you want to proceed with your H-1B status.
If anybody come acrossed similiar type of situation or experienced already let me know and this would really help in taking the decision.

Download trial version of Adobe Acrobat professional, type in the form and save the form. Reopen it and verify whether ur data is there or not.
Before u do that on actual form, save a copy of it and do it.

I guess original poster is asking about saving forms after filling it up. You can save the form but the data that you filled up will not be saved. If someone is actually able to save the form along with the data, I'll be interested too to know how.

Thanks guys for all the wisdom....I believe I knew the answer, but needed a 2nd opinion...
I had to renew my H1 visa, so was wondering what would happen if my GC was to get approved and my dependents remain pending, before the h1 is applied. My GC is still pending, hope to see some Green soon....maybe this year. All the best for all of you.

Hi,
I'm considering relocating back to India after getting my EAD since I don't know how long it's going to take to actually get the I-485 approved. My questions are:
1) Is it possible to continue to keep my I-485 application active if I relocate to India and work at the India office of the same company that filed my green card?
2) Is it possible to continue to keep my I-485 application active if I relocate to India and work for a company other than the one that filed my green card?
3) Lets say I move back to India after getting the green card, is it enough to simply enter the US once a year to keep my green card active? Can I apply for citizenship after 5 years of having the green card, even though I haven't resided in the US for those 5 years?
I'd really appreciate it if someone could please answer these questions for me.

If your extension paper come with I-94 attached, take it and staple it on your passport. (That is your new I-94). White paper need to keep in safe place. If it is expired, no value for it.

I have a last minute doubt - my H1B stamp on the passport is expired, so is the white I94 card. I have a valid I797 extension.
Can I use automatic revalidation? I am in doubt because the white I94 card is expired and I will have to present it to the officer at the port of entry.

Your post deserves to be deleted. You seem to lose sight of the real issue and instead resort to preaching from the relative anonymity of your digital pulpit. There are families that are worse off for having ITIN and unable to get an economic stimulus check that is intended to help kick start the economy NOW. Preaching that they can submit an ammended return sometime in the future is a moot point. Catch the irony? Economic stimulus is to help the economy now. Now. Now. Let's try that 3 more times.
